By implementing this learnership programme, the City of Cape Town is addressing the issue of high unemployment rate among the youth, and in the process providing opportunities for skills development. This is to provide training in Traffic Services and Metro Police. Once the learnereship training has been completed, the acquired skills will help to increase the chances of being employed in the Traffic, Law Enforcement and Metro Police Enforcement environment. Unemployed youth between the ages 18-35, and meet the minimum requirements for this learnership programme are invited to apply and be part of the training. The training will be provided by the Metro Police Academy. It will take 18 months to complete the learnership, starting from 1 December 2023 until 31 May 2025. Applicants must note that, after completing the learnership permanent employment by the City of Cape Town Metro Police is not guaranteed.
Requirements:
– You must have passed Grade 12/ Matric
– Applicants must physically fit and medically fit as they will undergo fitness test
– Must be in possession of a Valid Code B Driving License/ Code 8
-Applicants must be able to work as a team and cope with stressful situations
– Clear Criminal Record
– Applicants must be residing in Cape Town
Candidates shortlisted based on the requirements listed above will be required to undergo and pass the compulsory fitness assessment.
The fitness test will be as follows:
– Applicant will be required to run for 2.4 km within 12:30 minutes for males, and 16:00 minutes for females
– Must do 30 push-ups in 60 seconds
– Must do 30 Sit-ups in 60 seconds
Candidates who are successful in the fitness assessment will be required to do the following:
– Pass a written assessment and an interview
– Physical assessment
– Submit their fingerprints or ID numbers for checking criminal records.
– Undergo a City medical evaluation
– Undergo a compulsory drug test and random drug tests thereafter
– Undergo psychological assessment
– Maintain fitness levels as they will undergo ongoing fitness assessments during the training
PLEASE NOTE:
– Candidates must note that, after completing the learnership, the Municipality is not obliged to give you permanent employment
– Candidates who pass the assessments will have to wear a uniform, and work shifts, in all weather conditions.
